Default Pro tools mapping to the mixer problem

I am using Pro tools 7 with a digidesign 002. I have a focusrite sapphire 10I/O for extra inputs.

I have connected the focusrite 10I/O via firewire to the Digidesign 002.

Pro tools is recognizing the Focusrite in the software but not mapping to the mixer (it does not show up in the inputs available)

does anyone know how I can do this?

If the Focusrite has a lightpipe output, and if you can route(with the software from Focusrite) the inputs to show up on the lightpipe, then you could feed lightpipe to the 002. The 002 would be the main interface in Pro Tools, and the IO setup would recognize those inputs as the 8 ADAT inputs.

Where it gets confusing is; what you have said already. Pro Tools 7 should NOT recognize the Focusrite at all as all versions of LE will only "see" Digi/Avid hardware(002, 003, Mbox)

Assuming the 002 as your main interface(which is a "MUST" with Pro Tools LE) if the above doesn't work, there are several options to add 8 inputs over the 002 lightpipe input port. Focusrite OctoPre Mk II or Mk II Dynamic are 2 solid units. Presonus D8 works well and, on a budget, the Behringer ADA8000 sounds just as good as the 002(maybe better). None of these options requires any fussing or software setup. Plug them in, default the IO setup(inputs tab) and set clock source to ADAT/Optical

I have pro tools software and digi 002 on my home computer. I would like to load pro tools 7 on my mac book pro so I can do work while on the road for work. I tried to load pro tools but it will not load without the digi 002. Is it possible to use pro tools 7 le without the digi 002 attached?

8 and less, no
9 and 10, yes but you need an iLok
a used Mbox micro might be an option but I don't remember what version is it's minimum

Do you know if I get Pro Tools 9 if I can just have that on my laptop or will I have to get some type of hardware too to use with my laptop to have it work?

not quite understanding the question but if you're asking if you can just edit on your laptop w/o any extra hardware then probably (Mac should be OK, a Windows will need ASIO4ALL installed to use the laptops sound card) but you will need the iLok attached
