Default 003 Factory Efficieny With PT9...

I should be upgrading to W7 by 2011 and wanted to make some changes but no one is interested in purchasing my 003 factory, I wanted to know how well it was running with pro tools 9 & w7.

My current pc is a Dell T3400 2.40GHz Quad, 4GB Ram, x2-500 GB HD.

I will upgrade ram and memory and do a complete system restore hence upgrading to W7, Will I encounter any frequent problems before hand? Will I regret my decision? Thanks!

Dells are a crap shoot with Pro Tools. If its working now with an older version, then all should be fine. Now that I have sorted out the controller issues(my 003 is finally working well) I am perfectly content with it. Don't be confused by the "Factory" moniker as that is simply a batch of plugins that came with the package(and included an iLok, which you will need for PT9 anyway).

I have been running PT 8 on Windows XP, and have now bought a Windows 7 computer for PT 9...do any of You know if I have to install PT 8 on the new computer in Windows 7 in order to install the cross grade? No, the crossgrade gives you access to full installers. You'll need an ilok on which to put the PT9 license, if you don't already have one. PT9 doesn't have any serial numbers like earlier versions of LE.

PT9 on windows 7 repeatedly fails to install 003 drivers. Are there any firmware issues here?

The drivers are a separate download, available here.

Uninstall Pro Tools and uninstall any drivers from add/remove programs.
Reboot if it doesn't do it automatically.
With the 003 disconnected, install the latest driver.
Connect it and see if Windows recognizes the hardware. You should see the inputs in the sound app in control panel.
If so, then reinstall PT9.

I have the console I purchased it a year ago, I didn't even install any of those plugs it came with..Its actually been givin me random errors and problems, someone told me its not the hardware or software but problems with my pc, im pretty sure restoring and startin fresh is gonna help the problem along with buying a more reliable firewire card and not fill the pc with garbage.(well at least some problems)

im running 8.0.3cs2 on XP sp3, sometimes when setting peripherals it makes a couple click sounds and it just goes offline and I have to restart the whole system.
