Default 8 Seconds To Record?

Every time I try and record, be it a MIDI track, audio track, etc., it stops recording after eight seconds. I've repaired permissions, dumped the Digidesign databases folder, and it won't even let me repair prebinding, claiming everything is okay.

Any suggestions?

MacBook
OS 10.4.9
Intel Core Duo
2 GHz
2 Gb RAM
MBox 2
Pro Tools LE 7.3
Maxtor Firewire Drive (which I'm recording to)

Thanks,

Drew

Are you getting an error message when it stops, or does it just stop on it's own, as if you had hit the spacebar or stop button?

It just stops on it's own with no warning, but every time at 8.x seconds. In fact, if I didn't actually see the transport stop, I wouldn't even know it had happened.

Does your Maxtor Firewire drive use the Oxford 911, 912, 924 chipset? If not... that also might be a problem. I used to have the same problem until I bought my GLYPH GT050Q external firewire drive, and now everything is fine. I can record forever.

Hope this helps...

It could be the FW drive... I'd try updating to ver 7.3.1cs5 which is recommended for all users. Can you try another FW port? What happens if you try and record to the local HDD? Make sure pre or post roll isn't highlighted... limit undo settings to 5 or 8, try a higher buffer size... 1024 samples... does any of this change it? It's strange that you aren't getting an error message. It makes me think that its a weird preference.
