Angry MBox Mini 3 + PT8LE 'Unable to Recognize...'

MBox Mini 3
ProTools LE 8.0.4

So I already have a 003 connected to my desktop computer, but after getting a laptop I decided to pick up one of the new MBoxes just to use for recording ideas on the go, or recording from the soundboard at gigs, etc. So I installed it all last night, and there was no problems. Had a bit of a mess around on EZDrummer, opened up an old session and everything worked fine. So I packed it away and didn't get it out until after work tonight.

Now, ProTools loads all the way up to 'DAE Loaded' before it tells me that it's 'Unable to located Digidesign hardware. Make sure it's connected blahblahblah.' ... But it is connected. The blue light is on, my 'MBox Mini Control Panel' tells says "Hardware Connected" and I can run my laptops sound through it. So it has to be connected right?

I've tried it in all 3 of my USB ports and it's the same every time: blue light, hardware connected and laptop sound... but Tools wont open. Any ideas?

I don't own an MBox, but you might try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers with the Mbox disconnected from the pc. Then shut the pc down, connect the MBox and boot your pc up.

I own an MBOX3 pro and the first thing I did was update the drivers.

http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...3=1450&Hilite=

Try that and see if it works.

How do you think it is ? Have you compared it to the old mbox 2 pro ?

So I tried to do the driver updates, but the site was down for maintenance, so I got impatient and decided to just do a complete re-install of both Pro-Tools and the Mbox and wadda'ya know, everything worked again. This lasted about 2 weeks until just the other day, exactly the same thing happened again. Blue light on, hardware definitely connected and laptop sound running through the Mbox, but PT refusing to acknowledge that it was connected.

I'll do a driver update tomorrow afternoon, see how that fares for me.

Ive been having the same problem with my new Mbox - this seems to be a workaround:

unplug the mbox
uninstall the drivers
reboot
reinstall the drivers
then plug up the mbox

if you shutdown the the machine and unplug the mbox, plug up the mbox AFTER it fully boots

see my thread about the same issue here: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=289086

I've got the same problem, with my Mbox 3 mini on Pro tools LE 8. Except unlike everyones here, pro tools has never worked.

I installed pro tools and all mbox drivers. The computer registers that the Mbox is connected, and there is sound coming through it from the PC however everytime I open Pro Tools it says it cannot find the hardware.....

Please help me someone.... getting frustrated
