Yeds the 10hd upgrade was 1k for some of us but then I think they changed it?? Cant remember but that was a special fleecing of the tdm owners.
Yes....you are right. Price will be higher BUT hopefully there will be benefits to this as I mentioned. IF they still stay behind the times, don't fix bugs etc., Then it will indeed be the end of Pro Tools for the masses. They're really going to have to make a commitment on their end to keep customers and, ultimately, not go bankrupt.

Which one is it?
Hi guys,

To ease everyone through this transition towards getting upgrades through upgrade/support plans, Pro Tools and Pro Tools HD users on versions 9, 10 and 11 have until the end of 2015 (14 months from now) to get on a plan.

If you want to take advantage of the offer now, we're including an extra 3 months of upgrade/support coverage. However, you have the option to wait and see what we deliver from now through 2015 to make your decision.

Thanks,
Tony

Er... I thought it was an extra 5 months to end of March 2015?

Update to my post number 1300 above ... a revised FAQ is just out and it clarifies two things at least that I mentioned ...

The upgrade of PTLE is now confirmed as applying to all versions of LE, not just PT8LE.

So people can upgrade from PT7LE too.

The anomaly in which the deadline for PTLE upgrades did not also apply to PT M-Powered has been addressed.

The December 2014 deadline after which it will no longer be possible to upgrade PTLE at all is confirmed as also applying to PT M-Powered (all versions).

Sorry for any confusion ... the new FAQ was published as I was drafting my post.

Do you want to talk about what we will be getting for double the price?

How regular will feature updates be coming down the pipe?

How fast are bug squashes going to be addressed?

I wouldnt mind paying double what I'm paying now for MORE. If you are asking me to pay double for the same or less then its gonna be a no deal.

I dont need everyday support with working the software. I sit in front of it for 60 hours a week.

FIWW the original 10 HD upgrade price was no higher than Avid's competition. It was just higher than what Pro Tools users had become accustomed to.

Yes, sorry that was confusing since the extension is through March 2016 and the total additional coverage depends on how soon you start your plan.

It's true if you purchase now and start coverage in November, you will receive a total of 5 extra months coverage on top of the 12 month plan. If you purchase at the end of December, you'd receive only an extra 3 months.

Hope that clarifies.

Tony

Tony, will those of us who currently have PT11/11HD get whatever new features are included in the new support plan subscription? Or will we have to buy in at some undefined point in time in order to take advantage of those new features?
