8.0.3 on SL: Structure Free crashes PT
Yay! No more yellow interface!
Boo... Structure crashes when I navigate in the browser window. I'm not quite sure what makes it tick, but when I click the parent folder button (the up arrow) too many times, I got the beach ball of doom. Anybody else having issues with the latest update and SL? Nonetheless, I'm am so happy Digi released this before Christmas

Re: 8.0.3 on SL: Structure Free crashes PT
Can I ask where you're navigating to?
Is it the top level of your computer e.g. the hard drive? Have you tried trashing the prefs for Structure? There seems to be some issue with Structure and file systems, where if it can't seem to find what it's looking for it crashes. That shouldn't happen.

Re: 8.0.3 on SL: Structure Free crashes PT
Hi,
I would like to help figure out what is going on with your system/sessions. In Pro Tools 8.0.3, we added better and more robust logging to help track down problems like the one you are seeing. When Pro Tools crashes, some information about the crash is written out to a log file. The log files are kept in the "LogFiles" folder that is next to the Pro Tools application. Here's what you need to do... 1) Reproduce the crash you are seeing. 2) Look in the LogFiles folder and find the latest log file. The file name ends with .dlog 3) Email this "dlog" file to [email protected]. Please include your DUC user name and the hyper-link to this DUC thread (http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=262447) so I can track which post this came from. Please put my name in the subject line of the email. Thanks! _____________ |

Re: 8.0.3 on SL: Structure Free crashes PT
I can reproduce the crash two different ways. One is clicking on the "Browser" button next to the "Main Button". The other is by right clicking in the Patch window, selecting Load Patch and navigating to to the root level of the directory structure. If I stay below the root level I do NOT get the crash and can load patches.
I will send the log to [email protected] in a moment. These links are to screen shots of the screens I am talking about: http://www.ninevolt.com/protools/Structure-1.jpg http://www.ninevolt.com/protools/Structure-2.jpg Note: These don't show the actual crash. |

Re: 8.0.3 on SL: Structure Free crashes PT
Voltmer,
I looked at the logs you sent me and it does not look like Pro Tools is "crashing" per say. As Russ says, it looks like it is hanging which is a little different than a crash. One question I would have is, if you let it sit and hang for 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, does it ever come back to responsiveness. That is, is it currently busy doing something that it will complete or it is completely stuck. Thanks |

Re: 8.0.3 on SL: Structure Free crashes PT
The first time I tried this I let it sit for around 5 minutes. I will try it again and report back if it becomes responsive after some time. Note that when I go to force quit it shows PT in red. My understanding is that means the application has crashed.

Re: 8.0.3 on SL: Structure Free crashes PT
I understand what you are saying about a hang vs a crash. I just tried it again with the "Browser" button and here is what I experienced.
Right after I hit the "Browser" button it gave me the beach ball and if I click on the Apple Menu -> Force Quit it shows that Pro Tools HD is not responding. See this screenshot: http://www.ninevolt.com/protools/Structure-3.jpg I wait about 5 minutes and then Pro Tools HD responds again and Structure shows my root folder in the Browser. However, if I click on the Structure Free window then Force Quit shows Pro Tools HD(not responding) again. I wait and it seems to recover. I can't seem to get out of that loop without the Force Quit. |

Re: 8.0.3 on SL: Structure Free crashes PT
Hi, first time poster, I have this problem with Structure, I'm running Pro Tools 8.0.3 and am using an Imac. I open the browser, try to drag the right hand bar to locate my samples and get the beach ball, when the beach ball disappears, nothing has change, ( ie, still can't scroll down ) any other action ends up in the same result and eventually I have to force quit Pro Tools.
I have also tried importing samples to build a kit from Workspace browser to Structure , I get the import samples as a new Part window, attempt to click OK and get the same beach ball. Any help greatly appreciated. |
