Upgrade blues on PowerPC
So I just upgraded to 10.5.8 Leopard on my Dual 2 Ghz PowerPC G5 (yes, behind the times but there seemed no need to do it previously).
Straightaway it was giving me messages in Garageband about "Timeout or timer inactive" so I thought I should upgrade my Mbox mini 2 driver. Unfortunately I got the wrong driver so I stripped off Mbox drivers and ProTools LE 7.0, re-installed everything from the cd, and downloaded and installed the ProTools LE 7.1 upgrade. ProTools now refuses to start and the machine just won't recognise the MBox plugged in. Any help on getting it working? Should I upgrade to 7.4.2 and how much will it cost? Or do I go straight to 8.0 just like the other PowerPC guy further down the threads? |

Re: Upgrade blues on PowerPC
The cost for upgrading to 8 would probably be the same, so might as well go as far as you can.
7.1 definitely will not work on 10.5.x, but you could download just the mbox drivers if you don't need Pro Tools.

Re: Upgrade blues on PowerPC
As far as I could see, I couldn't find just the Mbox 2 Mini driver, they all seem to be packaged with ProTools?

Re: Upgrade blues on PowerPC
Tried that. It doesn't work on a PowerPC. Any other suggestions I could try?

Re: Upgrade blues on PowerPC
It took ages to get a Leopard release out, eventually it was 7.4.2 which was the only compatible release prior to 8.
Pro Tools 7.4 is still available as an upgrade through the Avidstore, theres no mention of the 7.4.2 update and Leopard though, probably to try and get everyone to upgrade. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...927?popup=true
