Default Anyone here using "hot Swap" drives?

I hope to get a Tool Box card for my home Mac. I was planing to bring home TDM sessions (less tha 24 tracks of course) on hot swap UW SSCI drives to edit them..

Any pitfalls you can imagine?

Thanks guys,

Jules

P.S. Also - I was just daydreaming that I could place un needed tracks on the TDM session beyond track 24 & that back at home on the Tool Box rig , PT will just ghost them out, but they will 'come back' when I return to the main TDM rig....

Possible????

Hey Jules,
Are you already using hot-swap on your TDM - I can't see that it would be a problem w/ LE via your Mac.

As far as TDM to LE goes - going in would n't be the problem, but going back I think you'd lose all tracks past 24 - same w/ plug-ins if you don't have an equivalent RTAS plug-in.

Maybe you could set up a new session & track transfer the 24 tracks you need to work on, then import them back in to TDM when you need them.

Good Luck,
Tony

Yes, all tracks beyond 24 will be discarded when opening in LE. There is a warning dialog in LE to this effect. I use EIDE drives for hot swap (not really as a hotswap, just back-up and offline storage). They are cheap, and you actually can achieve 24 tracks of record/playback on them as a bonus. No virtual tracks in LE, but don't worry, just buy another TDM system, right Digi?
