Protools 10.3.8 is here but still not qualified and recommended for OSX10.9 Mavericks
Version 10.3.8 is officially qualified and recommended for:
Pro Tools|HDX systems on Mac OS X 10.7-10.7.5, 10.8, 10.8.2 to 10.8.5 or Windows 7 SP1 (details) Pro Tools|HD Native systems on Mac OS X 10.6.7-10.7.5, 10.8, 10.8.2 to 10.8.5, or Windows 7 SP1 (details) Pro Tools|HD Native Thunderbolt systems on Mac OS X 10.7.5, 10.8, 10.8.2 to 10.8.5 (details) Pro Tools|HD Accel systems on Mac OS X 10.6.7-10.7.5, 10.8, 10.8.2 to 10.8.5 or Windows 7 SP1 Pro Tools systems on Mac OS X 10.6.7-10.7.5, 10.8, 10.8.2 to 10.8.5 or Windows 7 SP1 Note: Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) is NOT supported with Pro Tools 10.3.x co-install. There are known issues (details) I see it says NOT supported for co-install on Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), but neither does it say supported at all. "It's a swing and a miss. Strike!" But at least it is a weak attempt to keep Protools 10 alive and kicking. As of today, all I've read is people with installation problems so I'm holding off on the download. "Strike two - looking." ...

PT10 uninstaller does not work with Mavericks, that's why Avid cannot support it.

Which still means don't use Protools 10.3.8 with Mavericks if you want full support from Avid (as in using for your livelihood). If you are working on a project that is important (and what project isn't), Avid is still not recommending using this combination. If you are in the process of running PT10 and transitioning to PT11, you can't co-install PT10 & PT11 on Mavericks so you need to have separate boot partitions or separate boot drives running Mavericks. Or do as I'm doing for now, stay on Mountain Lion for Protools 10 until this gets sorted out. Poor Avid, they really got put in a tugh spot by this release of Apple OSX Mavericks.

Re: Protools 10.3.8 is here but still not qualified and recommended for OSX10.9 Maver
Thought I'd chime in here guys…
I just did a clean install of Mavericks 10.9.1 on a new HD this weekend. Installed PT 10.3.8 along with the usual arsenal of software and plug-ins, Waves, Slate, Reason, etc. At this time I have had NO issues with being able to run 10.3.8 and added software/plug-ins on Mavericks. All of my previous sessions open and function properly. All editing, mixing, recording appears to run without issue at this point. The only issue to note is with the NEW driver ver.11 for the DIGI003+. The ver.11 driver does not function properly and causes sessions to "CPU error" at random intervals. It does, however, allow monitoring of any outside audio source while being in a PT session which is nice. You also can now monitor "web" audio while in or out of a session. The "old" ver. 10 driver required you to quit a session to monitor in iTunes, Quicktime, Safari(if you were lucky), etc. Not that I generally surf the web on my PT setup but when a client needs me to have access to other audio/video sources and I can't monitor them correctly its always a pain. I was able to uninstall the ver.11 driver, using the AVID driver uninstaller, and install the ver.10 driver. All was well after the ver.10 driver was installed. No issues. Obviously should I have needed to do a complete PT uninstall I may have had major headaches and issues as it has been noted that the uninstaller for PT10 does not function in Mavericks. To sum up I basically had a new hard drive and some extra time on my hands this weekend. I was in the process of getting ready to do a fresh install of OS X 10.8.5 when I decided to try Mavericks being it's a FREE download and install from Apple. The only cost for me was the obvious software install and overall test time involved. My "Original" system and PT hard drive was left untouched as this was done on a second drive. The goal was an attempt to investigate what my transition from OS X's and PT's 10/11 will entail along with the other plug-in/software that need to follow along. Basically all my required essentials are all functioning. The shops open so to speak. Anyone else out there with success or failure on Mavericks and PT 10 by all means chime in. I am curious as to what others experience may be. I am not desiring to hang on to PT 10 forever and will eventually make the switch to PT11 when the rest of my software(s) become compatible. For now at least I have an idea what works and what doesn't.

after 2 weeks of mavericks experience I "downgraded" to mountain lion again.
I think mavericks is the worst system apple ever released (in my opinion). a cpu and ram hog par excellence - exactly what I´ve ever hate on windows systems: system disc permanently in action, ram is going down to nothing without any programs opened. always had the feeling to work against the system. now that I´m back on 10.8.5 again - all is well again

Re: Protools 10.3.8 is here but still not qualified and recommended for OSX10.9 Maver
This gets said a whole bunch around here 'What's the facination with always running out to get the latest & greatest'?
Had some time today at work to read up on OSX as I'm still running 10.8.2. I have been contemplating doing the upgrade to 10.8.5. After reading the release details, I could not find anything that was going to improve my systems performance, or Pro Tools performance. And Mavericks showed the same type of information, a bunch of things to reduce power use, memory compression etc...all things that a properly optimized PT rig would have turned off. Enlighten me, please, on what the benefits would be to running OSX 10.8.5? I just can't seem to find them aside from it being qualified for the 10/11 co-install of PT's (which I don't require) But like most, I often feel that I'm behind the trend if I don't follow the herd :P My rig is smokin' right now for what I'm using it for. There are only two or three points in the release notes on PT 10.3.7 that could be fixes for some crashes I've experienced. Most of those crashing were from me abusing the system anyways Thanks...a slow day in the telephone world

Re: Protools 10.3.8 is here but still not qualified and recommended for OSX10.9 Maver
It is not so much about running out and getting the latest/greatest…okay, yes it is. Sometimes my clients look for it and if I were a paying customer, I would probably do so too. I would probably think twice about using a studio that was still running OSX Leopard or Windows Vista. I'm not saying that it doesn't work but it demonstrates a lack of advancement in technology.
Just for laughs, here is what Protools 10.3.8 fixes. (I understand that maybe none of these impact your needs, but for some it does) Issues Resolved in Pro Tools 10.3.8 When vertically dragging a clip that shares a crossfade with an adjacent clip, the crossfade will now be converted to separate fades that preserve the sound of the original crossfade. (PTSW-173175) Automation now obeys Automation Follows Edit preference when performing a shuffle edit in front of a "Time Locked" clip. (PTSW-187603) Improvements to MIDI Groove Quantize. (PTSW-184329) Assigning the track selector to “None” in send windows no longer causes Pro Tools to quit unexpectedly. (PTSW-170481) Pan Window Soft Key on Artist Control now functions properly with multichannel tracks. (PTSW-189422) When toggling Pro Tools 11 satellite compatibility to Pro Tools 10 compatibility mode, the satellite name is retained. (PTSW- 185781, PTSW-188394) Pro Tools 10.3.8 defaults the Pro Tools satellite compatibility mode to Pro Tools 10 when first installed, when Pro Tools preferences are reset, or when a Satellite Link iLok authorization is not found. (PTSW-189969, PTSW-189972) Quitting Pro Tools 11.0.0 Administrator while a 10.3.8 Satellite is connected no longer causes dialog error. (PTSW-185593) 9-pin Locate commands no longer result in an incorrect Locate position, when sent to a Satellite Linked Pro Tools system during playback with Insertion Follows Playback enabled. (PTSW-188075 Eucon pan controls no longer disappear from S5 after layout recall. (PTSW-188687) The AUX knob on Eucon control surfaces no longer becomes unresponsive after being pressed. (EUCON-2261) Automation breakpoints on clip boundaries are no longer deleted when dragging clip with Automation Follows Edit enabled. (PTSW-173920) Automation is now written correctly within a selection when there is a large amount of delay compensation. (PTSW-156621) MIDI port naming improved when there are multiple instances of the same plug-in. (PTSW-186138) Pro Tools 10.3.8 and Pro Tools HD 10.3.8 on Mac OS X 10.6.x, 10.7.x and 10.8.x — 12/20/13 9329-65389-00 REV A 1 Installing Pro Tools Instrument Expansion Pack before Pro Tools no longer results in a blank plug-ins list. (PTSW-186733) Exporting a sequence from Pro Tools to Interplay using the "Match Timecode" option no longer results in empty audio tracks. (PTSW-187273) DigiTest now works properly with 3-card HDX systems. (PTSW-178630)
