Yep, I'm redrawing sustain too. What a crappy workaround. It's a total vibe killer when you're laying down a pno part and the notes go away randomly. Digi?
FWIW, for me it's happening on Kontakt, and also to rewired instruments.

Couple things - if you have midi input set to "All", it could actually be a pedal connected elsewhere causing trouble.

Like JGuth pointed out, it could be that you get "Slow disk" errors. I got this error during a session using Ivory. I couldn't even hold a single note on the keyboard without getting this error message (Ivory - just below the buffer size selection box, in red).
I deleted "Digidesign Databases", re-booted and launched PT again. All good.

happens with garritan and ik philharmonic also directly from gigastudio and on ivory...seems to be a bug in the midi messaging over all my software...

I'm sure it's possible to track this issue down. When I got these "Slow disk" messages, I only held down one single note. No sustain pedal in use, and Ivory only showed one note playing. My money's on the disk streaming feature, although I don't know how one single note could cause "Slow disk" errors.

Can "Digidesign Databases" have anything to do with this? I mean, those folders also appear on any mounted sample disk(s), so there must be a technical reason for this?

Spectrasonics' support team told me that when RMX gets sluggish and partially non-responsive, I needed to delete all "Digidesign Databases" folders. That works every time.

The reason I still keep talking about disk streaming problems in this particular thread, is that I first thought it was a sustain message problem. But after I opened the Ivory plugin window, I saw the "Slow disk" error message every time I pressed a note.

I am definitely seeing this on 7.2.1 on Mac Pro. I can SEE that note is onscreen with SUSTAIN ON, and yet the note cuts off short. Glad to hear I'm not going crazy...

Yes, and notes are also cut short when played from the keyboard with no sustain. Had the same thing happening on today's session, and re-instantiating Ivory solved this.

This issue seems to creep up on me over a period of time during a session. Same story - playing one single note, Ivory shows "Slow disk" errors.

Go figure.

This is one of a couple midi issues that keep me, regrettably, from 7ville. Really would like to take advantage of the new midi and other features, but not gonna do it at this time.

sounds like the disk overload thing would make sense, except for one thing. I'm using Reason pianos, which are not streamed from disk, and it's happening there too. It's definitely sustain related, becuz it's not happening on sounds that don't require sustain pedal.

I checked ownership on my sample disk before today's session, and noticed that Group were set to "Read" only. Changed it to "Read & Write", and didn't experience any "Slow disk" errors from Ivory today.

does anyone else have any issues with this? Digi, do you have anything to add to this? It seems pretty basic of a problem to put in the 'rare' or 'fringe' category.
