Default PT9 + Baby blue Mbox1 + Digi CoreAudio Manager?

Please tell me this is a viable combination... I was PISSED when Digi dropped support for my old Mbox, and I'll be DOUBLE pissed if their cries of "use any interface you like!" means "any interface from any other manufacturer, but only the digidesign ones we dictate that you can use"

There is no logical reason to not support the old Mbox apart from them packing their coffers because they're forcing me to upgrade. It works just fine on 8.0.1 on Snow Leopard!

Ok people... this is the deal.

When they say "any interface" they don't mean any interface with a USB or FW cable made in the past 15 years. It needs to have ASIO or CoreAudio drivers that are compatible with W7 or OSX 10.6.x.

It's not about it just being an interface... the interface has to work with the OS. The MBox 1 has no drivers written for W7 or SL. Some people have been lucky... but don't expect Avid to write new drivers for a product that has been discontinued for some time now.

Sorry man but I didn't buy my mbox1 15 years ago but 5 years ago.
I paid 600 bucks for it and to top it off I kept paying for software updates since.
So now I can use Protools 9 with my 10 years old Motu box, and I can't use it with my 5 years old digidesign/AVID mbox ?
How long would it take them to write a new driver for it... a day of work.
What would you think if you buy a $600 guitar and five years after it stops playing ...
In 2006 I actually bought a nice Martin D15 for that exact amount and if it stops playing next year, I'm not going to be happy...
I could understand they don't support the product (and then still), but they could at list write a little driver with no support.
They treat better motu / echo / focusrite/ metric halo/ RME...customers than their own...
Anyway, dude, I've got an original mbox in front of me working like a charm on my macbook pro OS 10.6.4..
It's funny that there are quite a few people like you, who are spending time and energy on forums trying to discourage people to find a way to make their old hardware work (in my case 5 years is not that old)
Would that be a bad day for you if they manage to do so ? I don't get it.... Or do you have some interest in people buying new hardware... one might wonder..

Ok... so if it will only take a day of work... be my guest, write some new drivers for it.

I'm not discouraging anyone. I'm simply stating that it is unsupported and will continue to be so. Avid will not write new drivers for the MBox 1. That's all there is to it.
