Pre Fade Inserts

I am trying to insert an external FX unit on the main mix out. This is outputs 1/2 of my main 888/24 interface via a stereo Master Fader which feeds the main stereo output and the main monitor mix on my C24. How should I insert the effect unit(compressor)to make it operate in a Pre Fade situation?
