OMFG!!!! So, now I need an entire freaking hard drive dedicated to a plug-in too!? That's just a little ridiculous, i'm sorry! I do video editing with enormous amounts of HUGE file sizes on one hard drive and I have zero problems, even with only 500mb of RAM.

Thanks for your help though, SPK. I really appreciate it. I'm just a little bit ticked at myself for offing a perfectly good Yamaha 16 track and a drum machine to set myself up with this nightmare. Pro Tools seriously needs to start putting a great big WARNING in their ads about how hundreds of additional dollars will need to be spent in order to use it!

Or the people buying it need to do more research about the products they buy before spending their hard earned money.

All of the information you need to know about what is required to Run Pro Tools is readily available on this website for free, and could have been researched before purchase.

Pssst.... Hey, I did a lot of research before I made this purchase actually. I made sure my system was compatible by running that compatibility wizard thing and I read all I could find about it. I do recall Pro Tools "recommending" a seperate hard drive for session files, but I mean come on, I can't even playback 4 seconds (SEVEN NOTES) of drum samples for Christ sakes and it surely didn't say anything about having to have an entire THIRD hard drive just to run a plug-in!

Speaking of the compatibility wizard, it said my system is compatible, but yet when I was installing Pro Tools a message kept popping up saying it wasn't compatible with XP. The lame installation "manual" that came with Pro Tools said if that happened to just hit "install anyway" or "continue" (or something like that), but that message must have popped up about 20 times in a row and I had to keep clicking it repeatedly. Then it finally installed. Additionally I think it's ridiculous that Pro Tools couldn't have included an actual manual in the MBox package. It's impossible to even find anything in their "help" files, because they are lousy PDF files and you can't even search for anything, etc.

Anyway, i'm going to make this one last attempt and go ahead and yuck my system up with all this extra hardware for this glitchy software then Pro Tools and Eastwest are both getting sued if problems still persist!

Can you say NOOBIE with an attitude
Come on man, you are running a P4 1.8. If you are rendering HUGE video files with that machine, you must be waiting 2 or 3 days at least. And if you read the compat. docs, it strictly states that the OS should have one drive, and then you should have a SEPARATE audio drive.
Just a hint, when using a PDF file, why don't you try the search function, or look at the table of contents, and then click on the subject you want to read, and like magic , it will appear before your very eyes.
Not trying to be mean here, but you seriously need to RTFM, and not excpect diamonds from coal.

Noobie with an attitude my *****. I am a web designer and I have extensive experience with video editing/mastering, photo editing, audio editing and graphics design and i've used a multitude of various softwares doing such. Not to mention i've been playing, writing and recording music for 22 + years with REAL studio gear - not this fake simulated crap!

As for video editing with this system, as I said, I have absolutely no touble whatsoever! Don't believe me? Feel free to take a peek at my 19 1/2 minute long promo video. It is one of several professional videos I have produced on this PC:

Promo Video

Wow.... Kinda like.... "MAGIC", huh?

Again, I can see having to have a second hard drive when you're dealing with LARGE session files, but we're talking about not being able to playback only 4 seconds worth of drum samples here. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why I wouldn't be able to do that with 1 hard drive! There has got to be something else wrong here, because I had this same exact problem with DKFH 2 when I was trying to use it with N Track Studio (and others), only it's 100x worse with Pro Tools.

If you have any useful advice, please feel free to share. Otherwise, if you just want to sit there and insult me, STFU!

Slow down man, My post was not ment to be insulting to you, but when you threaten to sue DIGI for your hardware problem, it certainly seems like you did not do your homework.
Now for something useful
Are your drives stuck in PIO mode, If they are that could be the problem with you non ability to play back sessions. Change them to DMA, restart, then recheck to make sure that windows saved your changes. If after sevearal times windows is always stuck in PIO then come back. We can play nice, just don't be threating law suits. It tends to make people, um, unwilling to help.

Hey guys,
Just as an update, I have everything working fine now! The problem was, all I needed to do was install an update for my DFKH 2! Yes, i'm only running one hard drive at the moment and I will be adding 2 more in the near future. My advice to those of you offering advice in this forum would be to maybe start paying a little more attention to people's immediate problems instead of insisting they need to go shell out a few hundred more dollars on hardware to solve a simple problem....

I tried to tell you guys this had to be something simple!

And where was it that you mentioned which version of DKFH 2 you were using? How were we supposed to know that you needed to updgrade? I, personally, had assumed that you were using the latest version.

When troubleshooting someones problem, you eliminate the obvious first. In your case, the obvious is that you aren't running your Pro Tools computer up to Digidesign's recommendations.

I totally understand you guys had no way of knowing I just needed an update for DKFH 2. My thing all along was, common sense told me that my system had plenty enough resources to do what little I was trying to do, even before I upgraded my memory. I'm new to Pro Tools, but having worked with other resource demanding software for video editing and such, I knew that hardware shouldn't have been a major issue until I started dealing with much larger projects and session files. All I wanted to do was make sure Pro Tools and DKFH 2 were even going to work with my system before I invested a bunch more money into hardware, only to find out they still wouldn't function properly.

But, as i've said many times, I totally appreciate all of your guys' help and I do appologize for getting a little hot. It's just that all my senses were telling me things should have been working fine (which they should have been) and it didn't make any sense that they weren't. I was really starting to think I was having compatibility issues, when according to both companies, I shouldn't have been. I sold about $1,200.00 worth of other studio gear for practically nothing to get setup in a Pro Tools studio with DKFH 2 and i've had nothing but problems with them, all because of a stupid update I missed, as it turns out (LOL). I've been having to sell off some of my magic props (because of some current money issues) to buy hardware, only to keep finding out i'm going to need more and more. As if that weren't bad enough, I got ripped off on a set of memory cards I purchased on Ebay and I had to sell additional items to replace them. The CPU fan went on my PC for the third time and the list of mishaps goes on and on.... So, yes I was getting pi$$ed! LOL

Anyway, thanks again, guys and I hope there are no hard feelings!

In my personal experiences with Pro Tools (and I'm sure many others here), you shouldn't trust those senses. I have had too many experiences where I said "This should work", and it doesn't, and I have helped far too many people who thought their "system should be working fine", when in fact it wasn't.

This is why I gave you the advice that I did, and honestly, why you came here looking for it.

Good luck.
