Xpand+inst track+any acoustic piano=big noise!
Anyone else seeing this problem?
OS X.4.6, PTs 7.1cs8, 96i/os, G4 D1.25, 2G RAM, MIDI sport 2x2 Midi interface... Xpand v1.0.1 If I run an instrument track with xpand! as my inst. and load up any acoustic piano, then play a pretty fast pass of MIDI info through it, the moment it stops I get HUGE clipping and digital noise. There after inconsistant noise but will not go away without reinstanceiating plug. I have been able to repeat the problem several times. This is the only track up. I am not recording any data. I'm just playing the inst. and it does this. (Loud as h-e-double hockey sticks too, so if you test, turn down the volume.) Also... ONLY happens with acoustic piano pathces. Very very quick midi input on piano... I'm stumped. Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! JD RMR

Re: Xpand+inst track+any acoustic piano=big noise!
Hi,
What happens if you record the information to a midi track first!! then assign this track to xpand, or play the info onto an inst track then insert xpand onto it. in other words, don't play the midi live, run it from a PT midi/inst track. My money is on the midisport 2x2 as being poney, or the driver needs updating or re-installing. Chris

Re: Xpand+inst track+any acoustic piano=big noise!
If it was just the MIDI sport 2x2 then the error would happen on more than just one patch type.
The problem ONLY occurs with the acoustic piano patches in Xpand!. MIDI info also works great with virus and other instruments. Also, I have now attempted to change the playback preferences to be higher levels of buffer and I have attempted different levels of CPU usage and buffer settings. None of these things change the outcome of the prestated problem... Xpand!+instrument track+any acoustic piano patch=big noise. I am going to try your suggestion of the MIDI track and an Aux, but I am trying to prove that there is a problem in the instrument and the instrument track. I would like others to attempt recreation of the error so that I can report a bug. Please attempt this setup on whatever system you are using and let me know. Thanks! JD RMR Little more info now... The MIDI track thing doesn't work either. Same errors happen when running the instrument on an Aux from MIDI track. I can record the MIDI data, but the instument (xpand!) plays it "damaged" on any acoustic piano patch. All other patches playback okay. (Wierd.) Bug? Your help is still appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Xpand+inst track+any acoustic piano=big noise!
Hi,
I just tried it and it all worked fine! played a trillian notes into several piano patched in xpand and no problem at all. HW buffer is set to 256. Try a new install, delete the old version from the plugins folder first, reboot then re-install. See if that works. Chris

Re: Xpand+inst track+any acoustic piano=big noise!
Yup, I've also tried the same thing on a couple other systems now and they both worked fine too.
Going for the reinstall this morning. Thanks for looking into it! I really appreciate your help. JD RMR

Re: Xpand+inst track+any acoustic piano=big noise!
Last update and post for this...
The removal of all the components of Xpand! and reinstall of the plugin has fixed the problem. I believe the original installer created a corrupt file in the acoustic piano patches. All is working well now. Thanks. JD RMR
