Import Movie & Audio Problems in 6.2.2
We upgraded to PT 6.2.2 and now have problems with the Import Movie feature in PT.
We usually capture our film in iMovie, import that 'Clip' in PT and then import the audio from 'current movie'. This worked perfectly in OS 9.2.2 with 5.3.1. Now in 6.2.2 we can't import a Clip. We have to convert the clip into a QuickTime DV file, then import that into 6.2.2. We then can't import audio from the QT DV file into PT via the 'import audio from current movie' selection. No audio gets imported. The imported DV file does get imported but when we click in the movie track file (set to frames) in the Edit Window, the DV film in the Movie Window is in a different place than it is in the movie track. It is approx. 2 seconds and 26 frames off. The session is set to 29.97 and 48k. Again, we have done this everyday since 5.3.1 was released with NO problems. In fact we booted back into 9.2.2 and everything worked fine, including being able to import Clips from iMovie. In OSX 6.2.2 this doesn't work and we have the previously described problems. Has anyone else had these problems, or is anyone successfully using DV movies with PT 6.2.2? Digi please check into this. Thank you. PT 6.2.2 OS X 10.3.2 HD 3 G4 933 1.5 GB RAM

Re: Import Movie & Audio Problems in 6.2.2
Import movie, from an iTunes captured clip (OSX 10.2.6), has never worked with PT 6.1 for me either. I have had to export dv from quicktime pro. Definitely a new problem with PT 6.
"Import audio from current movie" seems to work ok for me after the QT export. CMG |

Re: Import Movie & Audio Problems in 6.2.2
We are using the Sony Media Convertor DVMC-DA2. Jim, are you able to import a Clip from iMovie, are do you capture your film and then convert it to a QuickTime DV file? The Sony works fine in 9.2.2 even if we capture our film in iMovie OSX.
Jim, are you able to import audio from your film via PT's 'import audio from current movie'? Thanks.

Re: Import Movie & Audio Problems in 6.2.2
In my current unsupported configuration (MIX24/G4/10.3.2/6.22) I cannot import an iMovie clip directly into PTs. I can open those clips in QTPro and Save As . . . a reference movie (very small) that I can import into PTs.
Most captures create multiple clips in iMovie so I am usually copy and pasting several clips together into one reference file. In the past a reference movie's soundtrack could not be imported into PTs. Currently all movies that I capture will only import a 5 frame audio file into PTs, whether they are a reference movie or not. This is new as of my new unsupported config, it used to import audio from a self contained movie as long as it was not using an audio codec (those could never be imported). I guess I will be resorting to exporting the soundtrack from the stitched-together reference movie so that I can import it into PT6.2.2. BTW I am using a Canopus ADVC100. hth, jim |

Re: Import Movie & Audio Problems in 6.2.2
Thanks Jim. Sounds like basically my problem/situation with the Sony. So it is obviously a change or bug in the 6.2.2 PT software because I can still do everything just fine in 9.2.2 and PT 5.3.1.
If you click on your movie file track set to frames in the edit window, does your QT film in the actual movie window show the same 'spot'? With a window burn visual, if we click in the movie track at 1:00:00:00 it shows the film actually showing 1:00:02:26. This is in OSX 10.3.2 and 6.2.2. If we then boot into 9.2.2 and use PT5.3.1, import the same film, it lines up perfectly. The sessions are both set to 29.97 and 48k. Thanks. BTW, in iMovie in the preferences, you can turn off multiple clips, so that you get just one big file Clip......

Re: Import Movie & Audio Problems in 6.2.2
Jim, in iMovie 3.0.3, go to the Preferences and under 'Import', uncheck "Automatically start new clip at scene break"..............

Re: Import Movie & Audio Problems in 6.2.2
As you can see from my screenshot, that is my setup. But the movie clips still split every 1.9GB or 9min,twenty-something seconds.
I think that pref is for importing takes from a camera. Each new recording starts a new clip if it is checked on. Thanks, jim |
