Default Re: Where is 12.8?

I find it strange that Avid's excuse for the support plan thing was to have more frequent upgrades well it's been 6 months since 12.7 - 12.6, 12.5 & 12.4 gave vanilla users HD features - Avid needs to step it up 6 months with no upgrades and 12.7.1 is not an upgrade ....

Not sure how they are not holding up their end, it was never guaranteed or implied that there would be a certain frequency to updates. In fact they were always a bit on the slower side, and only after introducing the subscription model (to the surprise of many) seemed to go on a pretty regular quarterly or even 2-month rhythm. But at no point was that advertised or implied.

Also, 12.5 -> 12.6 was exactly 6 months as well. So, past behavior shouldn't be (or should be?) taken as an indication for future releases.

The pitch to embrace a subscription model was based on frequent updates. Granted that's vague, but 6 months for a .1 release is not satisfactory from where I am. 12.7 was an underwhelming release as well; I never downloaded the loops or used soundbase, anyone else? There were some really useful features released during my first year of "support" such as commit/freeze, clip fx, fade editing... I was expecting innovation (or catch up) + quick bug fixes this time around as well. Frequency may not be guaranteed but they do need to keep their subscribers happy to secure reinstatements.

Exactly why I didn't renew my support plan and let it expire. Last year's $399 I could have flushed down the toilet for all the good it did me. Complete waste of money. You can justify it all you want but I can't. I have sold most of my Avid hardware and bought into Universal Audio equipment. If I could run HD software without my HDX card and Omni I would sell them as well. Avid is doing a great job of driving their long time customers away. Very sad.

i heard that from here !!! ...

lets think for a moment .. if you are a Pro Tooler .. what does it really matter when you started you subscription and what you do or do not get in our own idea of what a timely manner is ...

now i can only speak from the Vanilla world .. NOt HD, so if i paid 299.00 every 3 years for an upgrade or i pay 99.00 a year for 3 years there really is no difference to me .. just me !!

HD .. 399.00 turns into 1000.00 over 3 years .. someone with the Brain Cell today remember what we used to pay for HD upgrades compared to LE ?? i just cannot remember ..

Flame Suit on !!!

now, 12.8 is comin' 'round the bend .. i can smell it !!! that burning smell as they make all the DVD installers !!! haha ... or maybe that is the Cow Pasture on the 5 Freeway on the way to the North Country ..
