I haven't read all 6 pages but I know that PT can still learn quite a lot from Logic when it comes to MIDI. It's almost B&W vs. Color in this regard, one being so far advanced relative to the other. Opcode Vision, circa mid-90's, floored PT in MIDI editing almost 30 years ago. PT's MIDI implementation hasn't changed in ages, indicating that Avid doesn't sense enough of a demand from their users. That's odd to me, as someone who works so heavily in MIDI, but it is what it is.

Allow us to use Midi controllers to map non-VI plugin parameters.

I mean it to work just like the scissors tool in Logic.
I just want to be able to cut a bar by just cut the part in waveform view.
Now the notes stay in the original length and continue even if I cut the part

(EDIT: I mean Clip view, not Waveform view. Sorry for the confusion)

you can already do this. you have to cut the notes first on notes view and then cut the regions/clips.

You can do this now if your plugins support MIDI learn. FF ProQ for example supports this and I can map controls to a MIDI controller. I also have a Eucon controller so don’t tend to use it that often, but have in the past.

But, you’re right that it could be more elegant when you compare it to other DAWs. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your view) their main focus is Eucon.

Hmm...can you tell me more? I've been trying to get this to work for some time now. Both with plugins that suppprt MIDI learn (including ProQ) and with with the built in mapping function. I even reached out to support and they couldn't help. What controller are you using and how do you have it configured?

Yes, exactly.
To cut one bar, I have to change view, zoom in, change tool, cut, change view again, zoom out, change tool again…AND I can only edit one track at the time.

Try cut one bar, going in to the chorus with 20 MIDI-tracks! It takes forever.

It should work like editing audio in my opinion.
Select regions, Press “B” and hit delete, WITH the notes following my edit.
Why would it NOT work that way? I don’t get it…

Has something changed since your own post #3 in this thread? https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?...41#post2602941

There's also this thread to look at:

Nothing has changed. But I should have specified in that post that MIDI learn works for me with VI only. Not on other plugins on audio tracks.

And yes, I have setup my MIDI controller properly, at least to my knowledge. I can use it to control parameters in virtual instruments. I can control transport functions. But that's it. So I'm wondering if I'm missing something.
