Default Mbox 2 mini works with External Hard Drive?

Hi everyone!
I am new in PT 8.
I have a Mbox 2 mini and I see that everyone recommends to record on an External Hard Drive.

I have browsed some support threads and forums but I am a bit confused...

With an Mbox 2 mini,, what EHD whoud I use? Fire Wire 400? 800? 7200 rpm? 5400?
Should the Mbox be plugged directly on the EHD via USB or still on my Macbook pro?

thanks for your help?

Even though the Mbox mini is a USB device, only FW drives are approved. To be more specific a FW hard drive with the correct chipset and a 7200 rpm drive. Hope that helps.

More importantly, USB drives are NOT approved or recommended. 7200 RPM is and has always been the minimum speed for recording drives.

You do not plug the USB Mbox2Mini into a Firewire Hard drive. Plug the USB Mbox2Mini into a USB port on your Macbook Pro and plug the external Firewire hard drive (7200 RPM with compatible chipset) into the Firewire port on the Macbook Pro.
