Reorder memory locations
I know it's a long shot, but is there a quick way to reorder memory locations? For example I have 45 laid out for scene changes, then added two in the middle, is there a way to reset all of the numbers so they're remade sequentially, rather than going through every one and changing its number?

Re: Reorder memory locations
It seems to me that I remember being able to renumber markers back in the earlier TDM versions. Could be remembering wrong. If so, that feature was removed at some point, probably when memory locations took on a slew of extra (and very convenient) non-temporal features, such as recalling track heights/show-hide, window configs, etc.
There is a way to insert markers, and to delete them in such a way that the following ones renumber. That's all explained on p. 802 of the Reference Guide. It's probably your best workaround, unless you can live with simply sorting them by time (where the numbers are out of order but the markers are displayed chronologically).

Re: Reorder memory locations
EdiMarker converts MIDI files containing Pro Tools markers into text files and vice versa. It provides sound editors with a streamlined way of extracting marker data from a session or creating Pro Tools markers from a list of names and locations. EdiMarker can also be used to transfer markers between Pro Tools and Nuendo. Available for OS X and Windows, the program is licensed as donationware.
http://www.soundsinsync.com/products/edimarker There is some discussion about the App here; http://www.gearslutz.com/board/post-...x-windows.html I'm only assuming (because I haven't used it) that once markers are exported to text they can be edited then imported back into session and that they can be used not just for Midi files. If they do only work with Midi files there maybe a workaround to get the required solution. Anyway, it's worth a look, I hope it works for you.

Re: Reorder memory locations
You can do this in protools. Insert marker before somethingor other. Not in front of my rig. It's in the little marker window. Command+5

Re: Reorder memory locations
Ah yep, in the memory locations window dropdown menu there's 'Insert slot before ...' which pushes all the numbers back, thanks all.
It'd be cool if there was a shortcut for this, or a preference for it to automatically do it, or an option to reorder them after they're all made. Anyway, this'll save a lot of time! cheers |
