Buffer Setting with Rewire and protools
I can not succesufully get protools to run stable at 248 not even 512.
1024 has a delay so i don't use that. My computer specs are XP2800 2 dual channel support 512PC3200 memory sticks 80gig 8mb cache western digital (audio drive) 60 western digital (data drive) both 7200 rpm ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128meg I'm stumped, I am pretty darn sure my computer can handle just about anything What is yalls buffer settings at? Another question. I don't think protools is taking full potential of the CPU, It is set to 85% and when i look at the CPU performance it is only using about 12% if even that. Thats not right I don't think. |

Re: Buffer Setting with Rewire and protools
I'm playing a 24/48k session right now that has a bunch of audio tracks, 3 MIDI tracks, an Amplitube, some plugs, Reason running 3 NN-XT's and an RV7000. HW buffer is set to 128.
This is a Digi 002, P4 2.0G with 512M of PC133 memory. It's a little sluggish, but stable. What Digi system are you using? What sample rates are you trying? Offhand, I'd agree something isn't right - but I don't have any suggestion. Don't worry - Pro Tools will use all the CPU it needs. If you get enough going on, you'll see that number get way beyond 12%.

Re: Buffer Setting with Rewire and protools
as tele stated you should be rockin, the only thing i can think that would be setting you back is other apps running in the background....
There is one app in paticular, small enough, but if its running my PT wont play crap.... Other than that you might try reinstalling something...

Re: Buffer Setting with Rewire and protools
Toadies,
with such little info, I doubt anyone will even be able to distinguish and troubleshoot whether or not this is a software or hardware issue. Give a few more specs for your system, and things should go a little smoother here. Lot's of people use rewire at all buffer settings, and with what little info you gave, I can't really recommend any solutions. Good luck though, and I hope you give us a tad more to go on next time. -Chris
