Default What are some good 4 or 8 channel mic preamps? (Not Presonus/focusrite etc.)

I'm looking to get a good 4-8 channel mic pre...I'm really going to keep away from the new focusrite/Presonus type units...I'm on a budget of approx. $2000...I'm totally willing to even go w/ a 4 channel Mic Pre...Any suggestions?

You won't find anything better in the price/performance ration other then Sebatron VMP4000e. This is Class A technology. He only sells direct, so you can bargain a little.

Cheers

We use this one at the studio, it's a beauty, though a little on the neutral side, not much sound coloration.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Greetings.

Have you looked at the Sytek units? About $800 direct from Mike Stoica. He used to list them on eBay. 4 channels.

Best regards,

you could take a look at "old school audio"s stuff too. 4 channels with a power supply would come in just over 2000US i think. best thing is - you can expand later - get 4 more, etc they are modelled on API's stuff

I actually saw a post about sytec a couple of days ago and forgot the name of the company...I'm actually really interested in that unit...You see these next pre's are for my other drums I'll be recroding...My main Mic Pres are an Apogee Trak2 then a Peavey VMP2. I'm looking for approx four more channels for drums etc. I'm going to check that "old school audio" also. thanks guys, keep the info coming.

TL Audio Ivory has a 4-channel tube pre-amp at a reasonable price, about $900.
No EQ or Dynamics, just input, output, roll-off switch at 90Hz and a phase switch.
They sound ok, but not hi-end.
