Video Firewire out flickers with ADVC 100

My firewire video out flickers and then goes completely to black on all DV movies. It seems to work again when I reboot Pro Tools. Canopus tells me it is a Pro Tools problem. All the cables seem to be good and the videos play fine on the computer monitor.

I'm using 7.4 with a TDM system on a G5 2.0 with 7 gig of memory. Anyone have any ideas about this?

Are you using the #1 firewire port on your computer. Is it isolated and not on a Firewire hub
for example?

I'd echo the last response. the quality of the device is directly effected by the bus (firewire) also, you can hit up radioshack for a universal power adaptor (5v), that might help in the stream too.

did you ever solve this problem? i'm having the same issue on one of our newer G5s.
we use the ADVC-100 on many other machines w/ no problem.

many can-o-puss problems are traceable to Quicktme issues. I would suggest re-installing and/or upgrading Quicktime.

well team, we believe it turns out that there's an issue w/ our FW buss on
our G5. we pulled an HD/process card out and put in a FW PCIx card...hooked
the cano up, and behold! no flickers.

believe me, we tried various versions of QT, PT re-install, and OS re-install, but
this was the only thing that cleared it up. luckily this Mac doesn't need the
extra process horsepower or we'd be hosed.

strangely, we've never had a problem using FW hard drives on that computer...just
the Canopus for video. oh, and fyi, we also tried FCPro on that computer w/ the
Canopus and had the same flicker...so that was the smoking gun in my mind that
it was a FW port issue...along w/ changing QT versions w/ no success.
