Default Most up to date PT version running G4 w/10.2.8??

One of my setups:
Mac 867mhz G4
10.2.8
HD3
PT 6.1

What is the most up to date version of Pro Tools that will run in a G4 with Jaguar 10.2.8?
Unlike my G5 w/HD3 accel the G4 hasn't had this rash of kernel panics going around.
However, I am missing the new PT features. Can I install 6.7cs8 in this machine?

Pro Tools 6.2 is the last version that will run on a G4 under OS 10.2:

Previous TDM Software Releases
Pro Tools|HD 1, HD 2 , HD 3 & all HD Accel
Pro Tools 6.2 for Mac OS X 10.2

Pro Tools 6.2r2 is the only version that will run on Jaguar on a G5:

You should upgrade to Panther. It is far more stable and has many superior features to Jaguar.

Then buy PT6.4 or PT6.7 (if you don't need to record a lot of tracks simultaneously)

Thanks Digi.
Will the same G4 run 10.3.8 and 6.7?

Depends on whether it's a QS Quicksilver or MDD 867mhz G4.

The MDD will, the QS is not recommended or tested.

Hint: try the compatibility docs.

Not Tested or Recommended with Pro Tools 6.7:

350 MHz Power Mac G4

Dual 450 MHz Power Mac G4

400 MHz Power Mac G4

450 MHz Power Mac G4

466 MHz Power Mac G4

533 MHz Power Mac G4

500 MHz Power Mac G4

667 MHz Power Mac G4

733 MHz Power Mac G4 *

733 MHz Power Mac G4 QS

800 MHz Power Mac G4 QS

867 MHz Power Mac G4 QS

Dual 800 MHz Power Mac G4 QS

*Early "Digital Audio" 733 with level 3 cache

I have an 867 QS and realize it hasn't been tested etc.
Does that mean 6.7 will not work period or install at your on own risk?
Is anyone running Panther and 6.7 on this model?

The only reason I'm thinking about updating this system would be to access the newer MIDI functions in Pro Tools for the occassional MIDI that is done i.e. drawing tempo changes. This is an HD3 system. I don't recall getting kernel panics. On the other hand the G5 HD3 accel combo appears to get them quite often.

My guess is that your G4 should work fine assuming you are not needing a fully maxed out set up with lots of soft synths and the like. I use the 933 w/o problems.
