Re: Smpte Slave Driver
Yes. The MIDI output on the SSD delivers MTC depending on your settings on the front. Connect it to your MIDI interface. If you´re going to sync audio connect the worldclock output to your audiointerface. The 192 i/o however, does not accept
the worldclock from the SSD. I don´t know why. |

Re: Smpte Slave Driver
Now the SSD is connected to my old 8100 thru the serial connection - when I remove the cable PT will not start. Do I have to set up midi in a special way?
Thanks |

Smpte Slave Driver
Hi
Is there a way to connect the SSD to a G4 - without using the stealth interface. I have seen a midioption on the SSD, but don't know how to set it up. Any help? Thanks GSS |

Re: Smpte Slave Driver
In Protools under setups/peripherals (I think) you should choose your midiinterface on the syncpage. I don´t know what interface you´ve got but on some of them (e.g. Studio 4) you must route the incoming MTC
to a specific input using the OMS "Studio setup". |

Re: Smpte Slave Driver
Will the SSD work in PT6 under OSX?
I know it's not listed on the compatibilty pages, but that doesn't mean it won't work - it's just that someone somewhere would rather we purchased a sync i/o. Or, won't it work? Either via MIDI or serial? |

Re: Smpte Slave Driver
I can tell you this much. I have my ssd hooked into my g4 5.1.3 mix system without a stealthport. I use a standard usb midi interface and have the switch on the back of the ssd set to sysex on midi (as opposed to serial). In the peripherals i set the interface to ssd and "send ssd config to" set to the correct port of the midi interface. And it works perfect.
I have a feeling that the pt6 software may omit the ability to send ssd configuration to the midi interface which would make it much harder to use the ssd. of course you could still use the ssd as a standard smpte-mtc converter and send that data to a midi interface but you would lose the ability to do certain things such as...varispeed; generate SMPTE; control ssd setings from within ProTools. But atleast you could slave to external timecode and be resolved via superclock. Although you would need to set the ssd from the front panel |
