Default Distortion in headphone but not speakers?

Hi,

just having a bit of a strange quirk with my M Box at the moment in that although all the levels will be fine, when I'm listening to audio through it, it will sound distorted, but on speakers, it will sound fine. I've tested other headphones and still have the same problem... Does anyone know what this might be due to?

Thanks

Set up:

Mac Book Pro 2.4 GHZ Intel Core Duo
4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Mac OS X 10.4.11
M Box 2
Pro Tools LE 7.4
Attached: G Drive Q 500 GB FW 800
