Pro Tools Wait 4 note --HELP--

Please tell me there is way to have pro tools wait for the input of a sound coming from the line in/out cables to start recording as with the midi function "wait for note" thanks.

use a footswitch to punch in/out if needed.

also learn to use pre roll function. can have whatever you want,say 4 bars of playback before it will punch in and start recording. could not imagine recording without it! it seems a wait to note function would be a problem, fist bit of audio would be cut off, maybe i am wrong??

that is the only way?!? there is no option to record besides with the click? to actually get a perfect 4 bars??

not quite sure what you mean, how else would you get a perfect four bars?? you could cut and move the audio, beat detective, elastic capabilities, and if it is midi quantize it, it cant play it for you what do you want it do?

that would take the fun out of it. nothing like the feeling of failure when you worked for days and hours on a piece and all you can do is make it a little shinier...turd!!! (speaking from experience!!)


do your homework,read the getting started guides and research all you can once you get a firm grasp on pro tools everything gets easier and light bulbs are constantly lit above your head. it takes time, many of us here have been running this ap for years!!! (on year 7 myself....)
