PT System Freezing every 20 minutes

We are having a problem on a newly built system on older hardware that we could use some help with:

After about 20 to 30 min of use, the computer freezes (total lock up - no error message) when trying to import audio either from FILE or AUDIO or when trying any other random comands in edit window.

Our Configuration:

Mac 9600/350 4Gig w/ Power PC Enabler9.0.4
- G3 Card
- SCSI card is Adaptec 3940OUW, model:942106-00
- Miro Motion DC30+ v 2.0
- Digi 001
System 9.0.4
Finder 9.0
Disk cache 512k, built in memory 320
quiktime 4.1
Protools LE 5.1


Any tips/thoughts would be appreciated.

I recently had a similar problem. Try removing your Preferences folder from the System Folder to the desktop.Don't trash it yet. The OS will create a new Preferences folder with the default settings.(you may need to restart) This was the fix for me. If it works you can check the previous folder for settings you may need and either drag back or trash. Tip: It's best to just reset everthing that needs it and get rid of the old Prefs.Obviously, that way you're sure you got the bug.

Does it freeze only when you run Pro Tools, or will it freeze by itself or any with other application ?

The only application on this computer is ProTools, so it hasn't crashed on any other program simply because there hasn't been that option. However, technically the Finder is an application and so the answer would be "no."
