Default Faster PCI Bus Options

I am currently 'stuck' with PT 6.4 because I'm still on the TDM hardware. A cubed system though. With lots of tracks and a QT movie, I get lots of PCI bus errors. Can anyone tell me if I can upgrade the computer (currently a G4 800MHZ) to a faster computer with PCI slots (not PCIe). Will that work with PT 6.4 and will it solve my problem? IF so, what computer?

Thanks

What are the error numbers in those messages? Can you give us an idea of your configuration - card order, any other cards installed, number and types of drives being used, etc?

I'm running a TDM cubed system on a PPC G4 867MHz...PT6.4.3 Expansion chasis- of course - In the chasis are the three PT cards...in the computer I have an AGP video card, another pci dual vido card, the card for the expansion chasis, and a Fiber Channel card.

I only have a problem with fairly large sessions. Mostly Feature length projects. The error that comes up is

DAE ran out of time while sending audio over the PCI bus. -6042

PLEASE HELP>>>>

Take out the PCI video card. An additional video card, especially with an expansion chassis, will simply not work with that hardware (or with any faster G4 that would be compatible with your Digidesign hardware, either). No ifs, ands or buts, it can't be done.

Well, any projects that I work on that are anything but feature length have no problem with the additional PCI video card. The video card would choke the system if it was in the expansion chasis, but since it's in the computer, it works fine. I'm sure that's the issue with my setup, but it only occurs during extremely large sessions. I was hoping there would be a solution...but I guess not.

What Fibre card are you using? How many tracks are you getting? By TDM do you mean MIX hardware? I never got very many tracks with our mix system and Fibre. Try copying your session over to a FW drive and see if you get more tracks before the 6042 bus error. If so the Fibre card is probably to blame.

Yes, Mix TDM hardware... Funny, I thought the Fibre Channel could be the issue, but the idea of disconnecting from the shared network here was to tough to consider. I'll do the Firewire test though. Should be good to find out if the Fibre is the problem. I'm getting about 19 voices....not enough.

Yes, but, are the video specs the same? Same codec? same data rate? are you mixing in Reels, or one big movie?

Where is the video stored? Different drive from the audio and system?
