Please, release the C24 Replacement ASAP.
OK... all the S6 info is out there now.
Can't see anyone really wanting to buy a C24 at this point. Must be EUCON or forget it. Hope the C24 replacement is announced soon (AES, Oct 17)??? An S3/XMON derivative for under $10k please. Shipping in Q4 too please? |

As for your 16/24 fader, Eucon based, "mythical" product, I'd likely buy one on day 1. |

When I went to bed last night Avid had not yet announced "End of sale" or "End of service" dates for the C|24. Did I miss something overnight? In fact, Avid specifically stated it is a current product, and they even spiffed up the C|24 web pages a bit. And the C|24 is a quite viable product for some applications. So, those talking about some as yet unannounced "End of service" date for the C|24 are quite frankly talking out of their butts. They don't know anything about the future of the C|24, and their advice/comments are totally worthless...

Re: Please, release the C24 Replacement ASAP.
That might be true but since Avid killed the Control 24 and Pro Control for PT11, buyers must be clear on the impending "last sale" announcement that is inevitable, based on its non Eucon interface protocol.
Just one less thing for Avid to care for (or about). Once a new Eucon 24 fader (or maybe 16) replacement system (S4?) is announced then the C24 will be moved status into legacy. But it does seem that Avid are pre-announcing products like the S6 at the very edge of release status when still much needs to be done to get a reliable system. So although they may look good most will wait to buy rather than become the beta testers!! So although I might be tempted to trade in my Control 24 I think I might just be jumping from one problem into a different but unpredictable one. Cheers Scotsman |

Re: Please, release the C24 Replacement ASAP.
It doesn't matter if it is an Avid product or not, everything starts to "tick down" towards "legacy status" as soon as you take it out of the shop so nothing new on that front. I mean come on! 5-6-7 years of full support at $5999 or less for a pro studio is quite frankly not a whole lot (not nothing) but people who invest in these are meant to have a write off within that timeframe. There are not supposed to be bought by people who expect these consoles to be supported for 10-15 years as software and hardware sure don't have that longevity so if we were to purchase something like that we would have if written off within 3 yrs tops and then it should have paid for itself in that timeframe. The biggest dealer in Sweden along with the supplier of the largest studio facilities in Europe once said : Don't invest in something that isn't gonna pay for itself withing a maximum of 36 months if you can't afford it not to and that statement rings true for us every investment we made since we heard that.. Of course this is my view of our purchases and may not apply for everyone but none the less it is worth thinking about before you spend a bunch of cash on anything related to music production.

Re: Please, release the C24 Replacement ASAP.
So the old (>7yrs) mics, compressors and eqs are all legacy and should be replaced. So can I come to your studio as I would take these units off your hands as they have all been paid for and you don't need them anymore?
In my world we use things until they finally brake, especially if they do the job. I don't want to waste monies just because they are paid for and a shiny new unit is now available. That make good business sense to me In fact I'm coming to Stockholm for the week on Sunday so maybe I'll try and drop in as I'm staying in the city. Cheers Scotsman |

And what do you mean by taking them off our hands" ? Just because they are paid for a long time ago doesn't suggest we don't use them so I am lost in that statement. However I have said that I do not agree with the whole controller EOL thing and in fact our D-Control 32ES is now EOL'd aswell if I am to believe all the rumours on the net and I am OK with that seeing we have had it for quite a few yrs and it has paid for itself so we are looking into ordering the new S6 M40 with a smile on our faces. Even if the D - Control would work for another 10 yrs we would move on as it is time to update the main control room here so we welcome the new shiny stuff with open arms. And these controllers ARE still working and saying that they are "killed off" and things like that have been talked to death about here so let's not go there again. Good Luck in Stockholm Chris

Re: Please, release the C24 Replacement ASAP.
I like the way REAL audio gear lasts decades and holds it's value. Monitors, mics, outboard...
However. I would LOVE to see a 24 fader controller that surpasses the laughable artist ones (bought them, sold them). Personally, I need a pro controller that is smaller than the C24. I want the metering, transport automation buttons etc but don't need any of the analogue circuitry. My fear is that what I'm asking for is too close to the artist series, but I really think artist is too plasticy and too small, metering hard to see etc. Something in between PLEASE |
