Default 001 worth buying at all now?

Just was thinking....I know digi say they will still make and sell the 001, so is it worth buying still? Or just go to the 002?

By the way, how long do you think digi will continue to make and support the 001?

I have to say, absolutely.
MBox, 001, and 002 fill different needs, and I see no reason why they can't live on together as long as Digi pays attention to them all.
For me, 001 is still perfect.
I don't need a control surface or higher sample rates, but I need more inputs than MBox offers.

the 001 is totally worth it's weight. For $700 you get into Protools. 18 i/o, same as the 002, 2 less mic pre's, but there are many options availa there for reasonable money. You can add a control surface easily. the only real loss is no 96khz compatibility, but sine most of the world is litening to radio or 16 bit 44.1k CD audio in their car it's a moot point still.

The savings over the 002 can be put to good use, monitors, outboard peamps, digital mixer/control surface, and in the end you'll end up with something that (IMHO) is better than the 002 for the same money.

Hope this is helpful.

Digi 01 worked great for me, BUT digi 02
plug-ins alone pushed me over the edge. If you
have the 2200$ go for it! if you dont have the
2200$ borrow a ski-mask and a gun

The giant batch of plug-ins would make me think twice at this moment. Though I would rather have the mackie control (if the could get the extenders to work) over the 002 board.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">or should you not be a master criminal, you could avoid potential incarceration by purchasing the digi001 factory pack, bundled with the same plug-ins...
