Separate Region on all related tracks problem
For the life of me, I can not figure out why this does not work for me. I have recorded 3 takes of an entire song using "loop record". They all have matching start times and I am able to select each one to audition them. What I would like to do is to select a poorly played measure, searate it, and replace it with one from another take. On the "Methode One" DVD, he makes a selection, separates the region (in my case it would be the measure I need to replace) and it separates on all the takes. This will not work for me. I make a separation, double-click to select the entire region, control click it and it says "No Matching". I have all three boxes selected in the "Matching Start Time Takes List" section in Preferences. What am I missing?
From the User Manual. page 180: "This option helps you compare different sections from a group of related takes. For example, you can quickly separate an entire group of related vocal takes into sections, then audition and select the best material from each section independently". This is exactly what I am trying to do, but it will not separate all related takes even though it is checked in preferences.

Re: Separate Region on all related tracks problem
So, I think I understand. Highlight the selection that you like, edit>separate reigion>at selection, copy it, bring up the one you don't like from the playlist - it should still be highlighted, and paste. I don't think it matters that all three tracks are separated. The paste will just cover your pre-existing work.
Good luck, Dave

Re: Separate Region on all related tracks problem
Thanks for the reply Dave. That process is exactly right for assembling different playlists, but I am trying to do it with takelists. Takelists are multiple takes recored in the SAME playlist with matching start times. According to the manual and the Method One DVD, searateing regions on a playlist with multiple takes (with matching start times) will separate all takes at once. It just does not work for me no matter what I try.

Re: Separate Region on all related tracks problem
Check your Preferences. I believe you can set one of them so the edit applies to all matching takes or not.
Cheers,

Re: Separate Region on all related tracks problem
Hmphh...What if you don't separate the regions and just highlight(click/drag the selector), edit/copy, select your "good" track or "working" track- via the little up/down arrow next to the track name - and paste. I just select "new" from the playlist and assemble all my material there - name the track and you're good to go. Don't your looped takes accumulate in the playlist? I think I may not be understading you...or maybe I'm just not understanding me. I don't know what a takelist is. Do you mean playlist?
Dave

Re: Separate Region on all related tracks problem
I just ended up copying each take to it's own playlist and comping the best sections of each take together to a "final" playist. Never did figure out how to separate regions on all related tracks.
