PT 2023-12 weird "select between markers" issue

PT 2023-12 weird "select between markers" issue

using regular old location markers. nothing fancy.

opened an existing PT session from 2023-9. Mac Ultimate

could not:

select a marker, (by clicking on a marker in marker window)

hold shift ... then select a different, later marker, (by clicking on a marker in marker window)

...and have it select the time line between it

(and hit option F to see only that section in edit window)

the issue is it weirdly did not select the time line (edit window) inbetween my start and end marker (as it should)

have been doing this same thing for decades.... no issues.

what am i missing?

reopened PT 2023-9, worked as always has, resumed work.

must be an easy fix... a new preference i am unaware of?

otherwise 2023-12 seems solid. would like to use it. some neat new features....

Still getting my feet wet with Pro Tools 2023.12 but I did get a note just now from one of our best engineers regarding your query. :).

Apparently, you can now shift+click in the far left column of the memory location window to do this. This column ( left ) is now responsible for recalling the memory locations, whereas the right area selects the memory locations in the window.

You can link the selection and recall, but when it comes to shift click to recall and select on the timeline, you need to explicitly shift click in the left column.

Hope this helps and I love it -learn something new every day peeps.

Sorry for the delay .... I checked with the engineer and no, you can’t remove it. The new left-most column is to show which memory location was last recalled. There is now a distinction between what is recalled and what is selected.
