Default BCF2000 and PT10

I purchased Pro Tools 10 and have had nothing but problems. Apparently the support code I was given is no longer valid and I am still having problems. Hoping other users can help me since Pro Tools support can not. Originally my computer was having problems installing the iLok driver, and apparently somehow that used up my support code - and I have no intention of purchasing support for a product I have barely been able to use.

I just bought a BCF2000 and am trying to link it to Pro Tools, and I'm ready to throw in the towel, return all of my merchandise and go with something other than Pro Tools, as the support is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE and their last suggestion to me was to try either reinstalling Windows or buy a new computer. I just spent $3500 on this computer and use it for my business, so reinstalling Windows or buying a new one just isnt a valid option to me....

Anyway, every time I try to select the BCF2000 in peripherals and click OK Pro Tools locks up. I have reinstalled drivers, reinstalled software, all with the same result. I've put about 5 hours into this problem today and havent had any positive results.

Anyone else experience these problems, and if so, what is the solution????

Running Windows 7 64-Bit Ultimate with Pro Tools 10 and a ProFire2626 (which is another tempermental piece of crap)

Who did you buy all of this from- and why haven't they been able to help you? We are an AVID dealership and a PreSonus dealership- if you bought the gear here we would have worked with you on the integration and got you up and running- I'm sure the dealership you bought all of this stuff from could help you. If they can't- demand your money back.

ProFire2626 was bought used, and I was told by Avid tech support that its known to be buggy and have issues syncing over firewire, and to just keep rebooting until it works.

BCF2000 bought from Full Compass - I doubt the issue is with this piece.

PT10 was bought directly from Avid, and they have been less than helpful with any problem I've had, and now apparently I would need to buy support for this product if I want to continue getting help with it? Sorry, but buying support for a buggy piece of software just doesnt sound legit to me. If there is a bug on their end, they should support it, not require me to pay to get something that was designed to work to work.....

Can you provide any help getting the BCF2000 to communicate with Pro Tools 10 without it freezing when trying to select it in the Peripherals setup?

HAHA funny. I'm not willing to pay Avid for support on a product I bought that should function as described, so sorry but I'm not willing to pay a 3rd party company for support for that product either.

I feel that if I buy something, it should work as described or I should be provided with support to resolve an issue I am having with the product. I would understand if the product was out of warranty, or bought used, but that is not the case here. Pro Tools 10 has not functioned properly since I purchased it from Avid, and when I asked for a refund I was told that is not an option, and that I should try buying a new computer to repair my problems. I would much rather have them work with me to fix the issues I'm having rather than ask for a refund, but it took 3+ weeks to finally get to someone on the phone through their horribly understaffed phone support, and after all of that, they were no help.

Now with my new issue, I cant even seem to get someone on the phone to help me with it. I've invested a ton of money into this software and equipment and I am very frustrated that I can not perform simple operations. I have PT sessions on a HD that I need to mix and bounce, and I can not do that. I dont know where else to turn other than a support forum, and so far you're the only one thats offered support, for a fee. Forums used to be users helping users with problems, not companys asking for a fee to resolve issues.

I work on computers all day, and I have never found software/hardware to be this tempermental before. It amazes me that they have released this at all. Older versions of PT were FAR more stable.

Does protools work OK WITHOUT the BCF? Just don't use for this job if your mixes are that urgent.

It's VERY important to get Protools stable (well, as stable as you can get 10 under Win7...) before troubleshooting peripherals. I have a BCF2000 working with PT10/Win7 with no problems - have you the option to see if the BCF is actually not faulty by trying it under some other software?

PT10 finally functions fine without the BCF2000. However, I just purchased it specifically for getting this project finished, as I can not use the mouse to control faders fast or precise enough for this project.

I dont have anything else to test the BCF2000 with, but regardless PT10 should not be locking up requiring a reboot when I try to connect to the BCF2000, it should at least give me an error.

What settings are you using for the BCF2000? I have it set to HUI mode by holding param5 when turning on. Then I am trying to select HUI, BCF2000 and BCF2000 [Emulated] in PT10 Peripheral settings. When I click OK it is locking the software up requiring a reboot of the computer to work again.

Oh, and I assume you've followed all the steps on the Behringer site about getting it set up in Protools?

Which emulation mode are you running the BCF in, and which legacy control surface driver did you install?

When you boot the BCF2000 what version does it give for the firmware, you need version 1.10 minimum.
