Default Sennheiser e906 NOT BAD!!!!!! :)

I just until today, I have recording my strat though a shure beta 57. THe results were hit and miss, often trying to reset my tone controls on all my gear to somehow reach a more pleasing tone. I mean the shure did an ok job, not much bottom end, but it seems to pick up on and showcase bad frequencies ( 1 k?). I thought I had a bad tube in my stage hog ( amp/pedal) or my antiquity seymour single coils were amiss. ENTER Senn e906. With the same riff comparisons of some early vanhalen, vol. roll-off bluesy riffs and high note leads, the e906 never sounded harsh, had more bottom and sounded, well, more like I thought my amp sounded to ears. I even had my girl try to guess which mic was better sounding, AND I even played a trick -having the senn e906 about 3-4 db louder- a trick because she doesn't like loud music, let alone rock lead and distortion. So there you have it, my girlfriend knowing NOTHING about tone, sound etc, instantly claimed the senn e906 sounding better, too! I am glad I bought it THANKS to Grant at touchwood studios!!

Besides the ROYER 121, let me state BESIDES again for you skimmers, can anyone recommend other mics great results on rock guitar? if so, brand and model please.

Last, WILL a regular sm57 sound MUCH better than the ice pic-ish beta 57? If so, will a new sm57 be as good as an older sm57?

Louder will always sound better to the most. I bet if you had the 57 4-dB louder, she would have picked that....
