Default M-Powered , Can\'t select \"no input\" menu on track

I have a G5 running OSX. I installed my Firewire 410 first, upgraded it for OSX, then installed M-powered PT and upgraded it to 7.
I created a new session and a new mono audio track. But when I click on the "no input" button the pull down menu is grayed out.
I can't select "interface". My Firewire software seems to be working fine. I get a signal from my mic on both the hardware and the mixer window.
I'm new at this. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

hi Scott,
first begin to try it in stereo...
so "create new tracks" select not mono track but create a stereo audio track, you'll see there will be some input...
