Quicktime error - frame rate 48000fps?
I've had a client reject some audio only QuickTime I have delivered.
It appears that the sample rate of 48000Hz is also displaying as timecode which should actually be 25fps. If I look at file info in QuickTime player its showing file has 2 mono audio tracks and a timecode track, as it should. I'm wondering if there is a way to edit the QT meta data to reset timecode to 25fps? I can't see any errors that I could have introduced in my ProTools session.. I'm running ProTools Studio 2023.12.1 with Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 USB on m1 MacBook Pro. Any suggestions welcome.. Last edited by M Taylor; 02-14-2024 at 03:17 AM. |

Re: Quicktime error - frame rate 48000fps?
Hi,
I have attached screen shots as requested. Here is exact response from client: Upon ingest of the AD .mov files, we’re getting a flag that “file contains an "Other" track with a frame rate value greater than 60”. Upon investigation it appears that the AD files have an fps of 48000 in the “other” section per the attached MediaInfo reports. This is also causing the frame count to be exponentially higher than it should be and affecting the timecode of last frame. The other track they refer to is the timecode track in the MOV file. Re: Quicktime error - frame rate 48000fps?
My advice would be to deliver a Broadcast WAV.
Do they require an audio only MOV? That seems silly and ripe for error.

This, smurfyou beat me to it, good advice.
Does the file sync? Forget about the metadata, give them a TC start for the file or a 2 pop. kasper |

Re: Quicktime error - frame rate 48000fps?
Thanks for the responses, unfortunately end client facility will only accept an audio only QuickTime MOV, a stereo BWF would've been my preferred deliverable too, but it is definitely not an option.
These MOVs work fine in Premiere and Davinci Resolve and sync with the Video proxies that I had been supplied. It appears that the end client's ingest system is having a problem with the timecode track in the MOV file that is exported from ProTools. They suggested to re-export an MOV, but without the timecode track. I couldn't see a way to do that in ProTools so instead I exported the MOV from Davinci Resolve, which created an MOV without timecode track, just the two (LR) audio tracks. I'm hoping that these new versions will work fine in the ingest system and that'll be the end of it, but I will report back if not. |
