Default Powering

What do most people do regarding powering their systems keep them constantly on or turn everything off after use.

Default Re: Powering

I've always shut mine down if I'm going to be away from it for 3 hours or more. No sense wasting power and having the fans sucking in dust. I look at it like idling a car, you're getting 0 MPG..

My background is in IT, not audio production.

Default Re: Powering

My MTRX is always on.

The switch is behind a rack I can't even get to. I think it's been completely off only three times since it was turned on many years ago (one power outage and twice when adding card modules.) If I need to reboot it, I do it from DADman (but I don't consider that "off.")

The MTRX (full size) has a max rating of 90 VA which I would assume would require a full compliment of the DA or AD cards (6 slots filled) plus 2 other cards and all the module spaces filled (Dante and two SFP MADI) which isn't my system. My guess is mine pulls under 40VA.

It's a very good question! Personally, I shut it all down at the end of a day. Use good UPS and/or power conditioners, too.
