Default Avid Link won't update my softwares.

Been having this problem for a LONG time now.
Avid Link won't update itself, nor will it update Pro Tools.

In the 'Products' tab, I click 'download' on the right side.
I wait for about a second, then get:

"Download error: Avid Link download failed. Download error."
or,
"Download error: Pro Tools download failed. Download error."

I've tried clearing cache.
Not a network problem (Speedtest says 9 ping, 495 download, 328 upload)
I've looked online for answers, haven't been able to find any.
Best explanation I can find is "don't use Avid Link".

This has been happening for a while now, and the only thing I can do to fix it is to install directly from Avid website.

HOW DO I ACTUALLY FIX THIS?

My current thinking: Avid needs to fix their sh*t.

The common consensus is not to use Avid Link. Just go to your account, download the installers and do it locally.

This^^^ and on Windows, always uninstall Pro Tools before installing the next version Most of us simply uninstall Avid Link after the installer finishes(it gets re-installed every time you install Pro Tools). Avid has received many requests to make Avid Link and optional part of the install process, but we wait Re plugins, most will not be affected by a Pro Tools install. When updating plugins, some will be fine with you running a new(er) installer and some may need you to uninstall the old plugin version first(most installers or manufacturers will tell you).

Uninstall Avid Link.
Uninstall with extreme prejudice.

So the overall consensus is: since Avid sucks, Avid link is NOT to be used.

Thanks y'all, was hoping to get some answers for a problem and I guess I got it.

Hey all, I'm getting this error too.
Through my research, I've found that Avid link actually still lists the latest Pro Tools plugins as being 2018.x, when they're actually 2022.x
(Not that I can download them anyway, LOL)
The weird part is I can totally download certain other stuff.

I liked the idea of a central "launcher/downloader", but after dealing with the MPC Software one and Avid Link being weird about downloads, I dunno anymore.

They probably did give up on it, but it still sees and updates and downloads news/loopmasters packs/PT updates so there's that

The very first action I take after installing a new version of Pro Tools is to zip and delete both Avid Link, and Avid Application Manager. That's before I even launch Pro Tools.

So maybe the launcher was right, and a lot/most plugins for windows specifically are still at the 2018.x stage.
The reason for the Mac ones being at 2022.x for most is for the Silicon capability.

Hi There,

Checking on this and get back to you. Alternately, you can download them inside my.avid.com/products#Myproducts

Thanks
