help!
it's time I buy a new computer.
I have a project put together on pro tools 7.4. that i need to save and access I don't do any other engineering and don't want to spend a couple of hundred dollars to upgrade. I need to buy a new computer. I know there's a fix to make 7.4 compatible with windows 7 (I still have xp) what about windows 8? thanks! |

Re: help!
AFAIK, 7.4 is not going to work with Windows 7. LE 8 will work(actually 8.0.5) and that's probably the cheapest route(maybe $100 or even less). As for Windows 8, its way too early to know. Maybe if you install and run in Windows 7 compatibility?

Re: help!
You are awesome for answering. An upgrade to 8 is only 100 dollars? do I need to wait till windows 8 comes out to see if Pro tools le 8 will be compatible with that?
thanks again! |

Re: help!
Nobody knows at this point. If you have Windows 7, and cash is tight, then I would get 8(with the 8.0.5 update) and stay with Windows 7 until you have some spare cash.(or grab a used PT9 asset which should be less than 10, but more than LE8). I always give Avid a good 6 months before I expect a new OS to be tested and approved(let those with more time and money jump in early and wrestle with it)
