Default studio monitors

Hi, all.
I have a question about studio monitor.
I have been monitoring with my headphone(sony MDR-7506), and my friend told me that monitoring with headphone is less accurate than studio monitor speakers. is it true?
if so, which studio monitors would you recommend?($500~700)

thanks

Although what your friend told you is somewhat true, ideally you want to have both a headphone and a nearfield monitor mix to refer to. So, simply using headphones is never gonna be 'accurate', nor will using just monitors without headphones. You have a great set of cans right there (I hope you're of the male gender as you read this ), all you need now is some decent monitors.
Given your price range, I'd look into
-Event PS6 or PS8
-Alesis M1 actives
-Tannoy Reveal
-Behringer Truth
-Yamaha MSP10

good luck and trust your ears...

pk

You´ll also want to look into a Genelec 1029´s + a 1091 sub combo. Or a pair of 1030´s. Slightly more costly ( sorry, I don´t know the US prices, but close to Event 20/20bas´s ), a very nice sound indeed...
