Default Error adding midi file from EzDrummer?

Pro Tools Artist, 2023.12, EZDrummer 3.0, Windows 11

  • Opened a simple session
  • Opened EZDrummer plugin
  • Selected a midi clip and tried to drag it to a track the beginning
  • This popped up:
Could not complete the Drag from Browser command because Assertion in "d:\ ws\ pt_color\ protools\ newfilelibs\ cmn\ cmn_interval.h", line 139.

If I drag it to measure 2, it works.

I have never seen this before. Anyone seen this message before?

Looks like some kind of bug to me.

Hi! Have you tried upgrading to the latest version? Nevertheless, I've already created a case for you. Please message me for the case number. Thanks!

Do you mean 2023.12.1?

I thought some people had trouble getting this version so I was hesitant to take it.

Otherwise, all my software is up to date.

Yes 2023.12.1 which is fixed now ..... however, the common words here in that error are the word Assertion, a file name ending in . cpp and ending in a 3 digit line number such as yours - 139.

The most common solution for these Assertion Errors, whether you are on macOS or Windows is to trash the Pro Tools Preferences.

Give that a go.

Marianna,

Here is what I did:

  • Deleted preferences (the %appdata% folder content)
  • Emptied recycle bin
  • Rebooted
  • Tried again
  • Got the same error message
  • Upgraded to 2023.12.1
  • Tried again
  • Got the same error message
  • Added a new instrument track
  • Tried again
  • Got the same error message
  • Tried a difference session
  • No errors.
