Re: best control surface for PT 6.4.1 please?
Perhaps DIgi Command8 is my answer. With two of them, however, the controls on the right side of the unit will be redundant and a waste of space, right? Nevertheless, with a single unit, I think I can swap from one group of 8 to another, right?.....might be just the ticket.

How much space do you have? Having used both the old control 24 and pro control with mix systems, I wouldn't want anything other than a pro control unless you don't have the space for it.

Re: best control surface for PT 6.4.1 please?
The Command 8 is looking good at this point for my needs. I wish it was more than 8 faders, but they are virtual faders are they not, which can be easily swapped 1-8 or 9-16 or 17-24?

Re: best control surface for PT 6.4.1 please?
[QUOTE=c-post;2012418]Thanks for the great suggestions. Ah the control24 is nice, but it's got a massive footprint -- too big for my studio, I've already got a digital console. I've been working with a c24 the last few weeks in another facility, but it also is a little too large for my studio setup. I love everything these devices offer, but why do they have to be so huge? Latching from one solo button to another with a mouse is too cumbersome, but using a c24 to do the same thing covers too much area. Sorry, I don't mean to be too finicky. Actually the tascam 2400 is closer to an ideal size.

Re: best control surface for PT 6.4.1 please?
Tascam 2400 would be excellent if not for one tiny problem. No scribble strip!!! Try and mix a 64+ track session without knowing what tracks belong to what fader.........

Re: best control surface for PT 6.4.1 please?
I think the Command 8, with its small footprint, looks pretty interesting. WIsh it had 16 faders, but being as the faders are virtual, and you can switch groups of tracks, it may well serve my special needs.

Re: best control surface for PT 6.4.1 please?
I have no experience with them but the Pro Control is the best surface available for that. Consider the Control 24 it is affordable and parts are readily available. Its a great surface if you don't demand the very best, but still miles ahead of what Tascam and mackie have to offer. The tight integration with Pro Tools makes it a winner IMO . Where else can you get professional control surface features and functionality for the very reasonable price a control 24 is going for used the days. It functions amazing and considering they used to cost more than some new cars I would expect so. Shame they wont work in PT11

Re: best control surface for PT 6.4.1 please?
You can only have one C8 in one system. If you have 002 console (which is a kind of C8 with added i/o) you can couple it with a C8 and have 16 faders. But still, the rule is you can only have one C8 in one system.
