After your update to 10.12.1...
Just uninstall Pro Tools (complete). then install 12.6.1.

You can always go back and re-install the OS, but it may well not be needed.

Does 12.6.1 perform any better than 12.5? 12.5 was unusable to me so I'm still currently on 12.4. Windows 10.

Absolutely and unequivocally NO question you SHOULD but clone your drive first which you should be doing anyway.

Happy for this upgrade.....but unfortunately it has NOT stopped these constant AAE - 9173 errors I am getting with my new HD Native system. This error is apparently a "running out of CPU" error, yet my system usage reading shows my CPU peaking at only 35%. Can't seem to figure out the problem here.

Furthermore, this 12.6.1 upgrade said that it also comes with a new HD core audio driver......but Application manager shows the same HD driver version number of 12.6.0.587, Nor has the functionality of the audio driver changed, as I am still unable to play anything other than protools through my avid interface, like I could on PT10. I have restarted but I don't think a new audio driver has been installed with this update as the "What's New Read Me" described.

What am I missing?

Most importantly, how can I get rid of these dreaded AAE -9173 errors preventing me from playing a moderately sized session for more than 5 seconds!!!

-dd

Did you choose HD Native in the Output tab of the Sound Setting?

And PT needs to NOT be launched. This new driver isn't yet multi client.

Installed over 12.6,

PT crashed on session launch after giving me the 'I/O count reset, please restart PT' splash screen.

Just relaunched same session, everything appears to be fine.

That's just it, HD Thunderbolt doesn't show up in any of the sound settings for any of the desktop VI or MacOS sound settings. And why wouldn't Avid's own application manager not show the driver as updated. No other programs launched.

The Application Manager is always behind.
Log into your account and download the driver would be the easiest solution.
I, like many others here have gone the extra step to uninstall the App Manager. It's pretty useless.
