Mountain Lion/PT Install/Ilok install problems
Originally purchased PT10, iMac (Late 2010) with OsX Lion. PT and Ilok (2nd generation) worked fine.
Upgraded to Mountain Lion. PT10 would not authenticate. Logged in to ilok.com, got instructions to install new drivers. Installed ilok client drivers. Website confirmed my license as good. The second file from iLok, "License Support" drivers (macextsx.dmg package downloaded from ilok) will not install. It gives me an error at the end of installation, after "validating packages" message. "There were errors with the installation. You may want to try installing again. [then yellow triangle with the exclamation point] The installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." I tried downloading PT 10.3 from the website (latest as of Nov 20/12) and tried installing, did not work (same error message at the end of the install). Then I chose the option of removing ilok software (both client and driver), then I rebooted, then uninstalled PT10 software, then deleted PT folder from Applications, then tried installing ilok again, and PT10.3 again. Same problems again. Repeated the cycle several times, it did not work. Checked drive permissions, all fine. Installed everything from scratch on my MacBook PRO/Mountain Lion, everything worked. It just does not work on my iMac (where all my audio files are). I am running out of ideas. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Re: Mountain Lion/PT Install/Ilok install problems
Try installing as the root user.
Warning - The root user has the power to do very undesirable things, and you won't be asked "are you sure" before doing them. You are responsible for anything bad that happens while logged in as root.

Yes, the gate keeper is off.
I'll hold off on the root user suggestion based on the feedback. I guess another option would be to reinstall the OS and try, but I'll keep that as a last resort option. |

Re: Mountain Lion/PT Install/Ilok install problems
I was impressed by the Protools 11 features ( Bounce multi ) so I bought it
Unfortunately I now ended in Never-ever-land.. I have the same issues: iLok manager sees my iLok and I can see all licences When starting any application with and iLok authrization via ilok, the answer is: Please connect an iLok.. Meanwhile my licence of Protools 9 has gone ( only 10 and 11 on my iLok ) so going back from current sitation OSX10.8.4 to Snow leopard image will not work either??? How to get this fixed. .. P.S. My USB keyboard Keystation M-Audio also is not seen in Mountain lion. I now seriously regret that I fell for the Protools 11 seduction... |

Second - you don't say which Mac you have but if it's one with USB3 ports there have been reports here of them not working correctly with ilok and the remedy is to use a hub inbetween the ilok and the USB3 port on the computer. Third - you need an ilok2 to run PT11. You don't say which ilok you have and if you have an older one you'll need to buy the new one. |

Re: Mountain Lion/PT Install/Ilok install problems
There were times where this was necessary to get Pro Tools installed and working properly. v8 had a bug with Leopard OS where the only way to get it installed properly was to install it as root.
