Default Mbox 3 mini, USB 1.1 ?!!!!

Dear Experts,

MBox 3 Mini comes with USB 1.1, while Mbox 3 comes with USB 2.0,

is that means that it can be obviously observed that the Mbox 3 with USB2.0 will be more reliable, when more plug-ins are using?

or the has not that much effects ?

Curious question :

Why still Avid using USB1.1 in Mbox mini? is to make differance between Mbox 3 and Mbox 3 mini

As usual...

The interface has nothing to do with how many plugins you can run... USB, FW... doesn't matter. Your computer does all the work for RTAS, so connection has nothing to do with the reliability of Pro Tools.

USB 1.1 is still completely compatible with modern USB connections, be it 2.0 or 3.0. The only difference is bandwidth. For 2 I/O with no DSP effects or LLM, you don't need any better than 1.1, so a newer bus protocol won't do any better of a job.

1.1 won't ever be supported in Catalina, you need to buy a USB 32 to 64 bit driver from http://usb-audio.com/ , they have a demo of the driver working in Catalina, but its advised you obtain a subscription plan or buy Pro Tools perpetual license because only Pro Tools 12 works in Catalina.

Please stop spamming DUC with stuff like this. Troll like behavior... maybe a moderator can delete.

You are replying to a ten year old thread. Where the OPs question was fully addressed. Ten years ago.

Nobody was asking about Catalina. This was a thread about Windows.

USB 1.x legacy hardware itself is fully supported in modern systems through USB backwards compatibility and USB 1.x hardware is most definitely “supported in Catalina”. Going on about USB versions makes no sense. Questions of driver support are different.

Pro Tools 12 is not the only version of Pro Tools supported on Catalina.

Please focus on sorting out your own confusion and not spreading it all over DUC.
