Music Toolkit Upgrade Questions

I'm thinking of upgrading from Mac OS10 Panther to Tiger and get the Music Toolkit. My Mac is Dual 2.0 G5 Desktop with 1.5 Gigs of ram. I have an 002Rack. Pro Tools is 6.7.

First, what exactly is the deal with the 48 Stereo OR Mono Tracks. Can I take 2 mono tracks and copy them to a Stereo track if I don't care about individual levels and plugs.

Second, It's pretty well known that before PT7 that Pro Tools was only using one of the dual processers in the G5. Have people who upgraded from 6 to 7 experienced a LOT better plug in count and performance, like literally twice as much.

finally, has your upgrade been pretty seamless. I had one friend who couldn't get it to work very well and ended up reformatting etc. Remember, I'm going from Panther to Tiger and New Pro Tools
