New MacPros internal SATA Hard Disks
Are they convenient? I'm thinking of an all SATA internal solution for ProTools HD, like 2x500Gb for audio and 1x1Tb for libraries. They are Western Digital units (I've had a quote from an Apple retailer). Prices are approx 250 $ for 500Gb and 550 $ for 1Tb. They are 7200 rpm 3Gb/s SATA drives. Now, besides the fact that I've had bad experiences with WD, I've seen Seagate Barracudas 7200 rpm 3.0 GB/s 500GB for 130-140 $, and the same series 1000GB for about 290 $. What do you think ?

Re: New MacPros internal SATA Hard Disks
I use internal WD SATA for all recording and sample libraries and they've been working like a charm. I only use firewire for backup and storage.

Re: New MacPros internal SATA Hard Disks
I bought 2 WD internal 500g SATAs to add to my Mac pro and they have been great. There is room for one more as well. I got the WDs because the system drive is the same and also I just had a triple Seagate failure. Admittedly 2 of the drives were in a Lacie case, but I thought I'd try something different. I only ever use firewire or USB2 for backups. One of the internals has just run off a mix with 139 tracks at 24/48 which I never though possible.
