Default Logic TDM work around

Just a quick tip.

Everything is set up round Protools in my studio, but the other day I had a client that wanted to work in Logic. I have been working with Logic TDM some years ago, so I though it was a no brainer setting up with my Digi ins and outs....

Hm. Not anymore cause as you know Logic doesn't support TDM anymore - you can only get 8 ch. with the Digi Core driver.

So I did it like this:

I have an 192D interface and then I bought a RME Raydat PCI card and connected the two via adat lightpipe. It gives me 32 ch i/o.

Now I just have protools running in the background as a routing matrix whenever I'm running Logic and need the ins and outs. Also, I have an Aviom personal monitoring system that is also connected to Digi, and I have access to that as well.

Boe

same setup here, instead of the rme I use a m-audio profire lightbridge firewire interface, which gives me up to 32 adat I/O´s

Great - and I can even use my TDM plugs in PT on the way in on recording...

So are you connecting the lightpipe to the 192D purely to synch the clocks, or does audio pass through PT on its way to Logic? How do you get more than 32 I/O in PT using just one 192D, I thought that only did 16?

the lightpipe is synced to the 192 and the outputs from logic are routed as inputs on aux-tracks or audio-tracks in PT
I have two additional 96 I/O´s, so I can get more than 16 channels of adats

Yes, Tonwurm is right. The Raydat give me 32ch, but you are right the 192D only gives 16 - I'll use another 192D or other digi if i need more that 16.

He is also right about the sync and the audio flow.

Also - there might be some other cheaper options instead of 192D/96's with PT9 now beeing native...
