Default Opening a session or import a OMF takes a while !

Hello,
When i open a protools session with a video track, the opening takes a while (at least sevent minutes frozen on "loading video file..." window

It does the same when i import an OMF it freeze on "Reading media databases" window

Two weeks ago it worked perfectly but not any more.
Windows and java update are disable

After the long loading is successfull it is working fine !

I have try to delete mediadatabase on all drives
Changing for a new drive
Reinstall the complete OS
= > nevermind it is always the same

I have search on internet for forums that could be helpfull and i decided to write here because i can't find an answer !

Any help would be very very helpfull !

Ps : i am on a protool 7.3 running on windows XP pro SP2 french language

A little more info would be helpful - what changed on your computer between when it was working and now? What type of drive are you using for storing the video? Is it ALL videos or just a particular one? What type of drive for audio?

You day you trashed the 'mediadatabases' on all drives - I'm assuming you're referring to the Digidesign Databases? Did you also trash the master database?

What format is the video in? Have you tried trashing preferences?

Please see the Help Us Help You thread for more info on the kinds of info we need to help you properly.

what changed on your computer between when it was working and now?

Some network drives assignation restored when the problem has appeared
The version of quicktime could have change but i have tried with older versions late yersteday (the first 7.x.x I have found)

What type of drive are you using for storing the video?

Before the problem on a network drive and after on an internal Serial ATA

What format is the video in?
I am using avid OMF 3:1 and sorenson 3 video codec

Is it ALL videos or just a particular one?
For all video
In fact i have tried a simple session with a 5secs audio record
Save -> open OK
When i import a video save the problem appears
When i delete the video track the problem doesn't desappear !

What type of drive for audio?
On Motherboeard serial ATA 250 gbytes NTFS formatted

Some others informations :

before the problem when a video was not present, the session loaded ok but a window appear saying :

x audio files, x fade files, X video files was not found
Auto relink
Manual relink
Skip all
....

But to appear now, I have to wait a very long time !
I have chek that the "Skipp all" checkbox was selected and retried to see if protools wasn't trying to "automatikely relink" the video file ... but no effect ...

I'm assuming you're referring to the Digidesign Databases?
correct the ones that are on drives root

Did you also trash the master database? I will search how to do and say you monday if it work

Any case thanks for the interest

Do you still have networked drives attached? If so - what happens if you disconnect the network they're attached to? I'm just wondering if network communication of any sort is affecting these load times.

And are you sure the sessions aren't referencing any files on a networked drive?

Lastly, and as more of an aside, you may want to reconsider use of Sorensen 3 as a codec. It's very processor intensive and you'd be better served using .DV video.

Thumbs up Re: Opening a session or import a OMF takes a while ! => SOLVED

Well,
I have tried to desactivate the ethernet card and all is ok !
Even if a video file is referenced in the session and not found

Just a question :
Is there some files on Network drive indexing some bad paths i could delete ?
I think for exemple at .DSStore ?
Because those network drives are really usefull....

In all cases thanks a lot for the answer !
