Default SC48 and SSD

Hello, I know that the hard drive in SC48 is safe and no problem, but anyone has tried to install an SSD?

We've replaced one hard drive in our SC48, at about 6 months of age.

IIRC, Sheldon mentioned elsewhere that solid state drives are not yet supported by AVID in the SC48, although they are in other Venue products. Do I recall that correctly, Sheldon?

Hi guys,

There isn't an official recommendation for SSD, but customers who have chosen to replace their HDs with SSDs report that they work well. So use at your own risk.

Main points to consider are capacity (16 GB or higher) and read/write access time (usually not a problem due to SSDs faster speeds).

Sheldon

I suggest not buying OCZ drives - I had a drive controller failure and it's quite common. One day you power on your system and find that SSD is simply dead - brilliant for live sound.

Google for drives with reliable controllers - this should be a good starting point.
